El Círculo de Periodistas Deportivos premió a los más destacados en distintas disciplinas, algunas menos visualizadas que otras.

Como es tradicional, en cada disciplina se condecoró al más destacado del año. Dentro de los galardonados hubo un puñado que llamó la atención por el poco conocimiento que existe de sus deportes: Andrés Gruss (Faustball), Rodrigo Pichún (Deportes Submarinos), Melisa Polito (Bochas) y Natalia Bozzo (Pelota Vasca) fueron los mejores del año en disciplinas que tienen poca caja de resonancia. Te contamos quiénes son sus exponentes y en qué consiste cada uno.

Faustball

En este deporte, el joven de 16 años, Andrés Gruss, cuenta cómo se inició y de qué se trata esta disciplina parecida al voleíbol

«Se juega en una cancha de pasto o suelo, la cual tiene medidas de 50×20 metros. Son 5 jugadores por lado, y el campo se divide por un lazo llamado leine. El balón es especial para el deporte, no cualquiera. Cuando se saca al otro lado se pueden dar tres golpes, y entre cada uno un bote. Eso sí, se juega con solo un brazo, no con los dos al mismo tiempo«.

En cuanto a las diferencias con el voleíbol, el joven especifica que «en el voleíbol se usa todo el cuerpo y puede ser con mano abierta. En faustball es sólo con el brazo y el remache es con el puño. Los sets son a los 11. Sí se llega al mejor de dos a los 11, es hasta las 15 cuando se termina el set siendo ‘muere muere‘».

Gruss comenzó gracias a un entrenador de su colegio, en el Teresiano de Los Ángeles. «El mérito se lo doy a mi primer profesor de voleíbol Mario Cárdenas, quien en 2015 nos invitó a conocer un deporte nuevo. Con el mismo equipo de voleibol nos juntamos y participamos de la fecha de la Liga Nacional que fue en el Estadio Municipal de Los Ángeles. Desde ahí empezamos a entrenar 1 o 2 veces por semana«.

Además, disputó el Mundial Sub 18 de la especialidad en julio de este año en Roxbury, Estados Unidos. Chile concluyó quinto.

Pelota Vasca (Frontenis)

Natalia Bozzo, en una especialidad derivada de la pelota vasca, fue la chilena condecorada. La ingeniera comercial de 36 años que lleva 13 temporadas en la actividad, obtuvo el oro en los Juegos Suramericanos de Cochabamba y cuenta cómo se inició en el «frontenis».

«Competí en el tenis hasta los 17, año en que comencé a jugar squash. En squash estuve desde los 17 a los 22 (donde también fue seleccionada nacional) y a los 23 conocí el frontenis, que es una mezcla entre el tenis y el squash, así que me encantó. Desde ahí no he parado de jugar«.

Bozzo aclara la forma en la que se practica este deporte: «Se juega con una raqueta similar a la del tenis, pero en un frontón parecido a la cancha de squash. Sólo que en vez de cuatro paredes, tiene tres, ya que por el lado derecho hay una línea que delimita la cancha. Tiene un sistema de puntos y es al mejor de tres sets. Los dos primeros se juegan a 15 puntos y en caso de haber empate se juega una tercera manga a las 10 unidades«.

En cuanto a sus metas, la ingeniera apunta a Lima. «Nuestro objetivo es subirnos al podio. Obviamente aspiramos al oro, pero sabemos que es difícil porque están las mexicanas que han sido campeonas del mundo en los últimos 20 años», cierra la deportista.

Bochas

La mejor del año en Bochas fue Melisa Polito. La deportista de 26 años, que además es enfermera y masoterapeuta, cuenta cómo se inició en esta actividad. «Desde chica hice muchos deportes, y en el liceo Javiera Carrera, estaba Ulises Gnecco, que a me incentivó a practicar esta disciplina. Gracias a él entré a esto y he podido viajar, competir y triunfar en este deporte. Practicábamos con un entrenador de Túnez y mi primer Mundial fue a los 16, en Italia«.

Sobre cómo se practica esta disciplina, la atleta lo explica.

«La cancha mide 27,5 metros de largo, tiene que ser un terreno parejo. La mujer juega en un espacio de 3,5m hacia ambos lados. Consiste en tirar un balín hacia un lado de la cancha, y tiene que traspasar una raya y quedar en el cuadro de juego. Tiras una bocha y la idea es que quede lo más cerca posible del balín, porque al final lo que se va a contar son las bochas que queden más cerca del balín. Tu rival puede ‘bocharla’, que es lanzar otra bocha y que la impacte directamente y llevártela«.

Los equipos se adjudican tantos puntos como bochas tenga más próxima al balín que la mejor bocha de los contrincantes.

Deportes Submarinos

Su propio nombre lo dice: actividades bajo el agua. Pero, ¿en qué consisten? Rodrigo Pichún, el mejor de la temporada en este deporte, cuenta las dos disciplinas que realiza: Apnea y Natación con aletas.

«La apnea es retener la respiración, olvidarse de respirar. Estar en el agua y volverte consciente de tu respiración y pausarla el mayor tiempo que puedas. Existen pruebas por tiempo que puedes aguantar o distancia que puedes nadar sin respirar. La natación con aletas es igual a la clásica, pero con aletas y esnórquel, entonces no hay que sacar la cabeza para respirar y vas más rápido«.

En cuanto a cómo comenzó Pichún en este deporte, el joven cuenta que siempre le gustó estar en el agua. «Siempre busqué la natación clásica pero nunca encontré (donde practicar). Estuve en el Instituto Barrios Arana y ahí había piscina. En segundo medio, una profesora, Verónica Flores, ofreció clases de natación y fui. Nos pasó aletas y esnórquel, fue complicado. Pero ahí partí«.

En los deportes submarinos, también figura el tiro blanco subacuático y hockey subacuático, entre otros. Son todos los deportes que rige la CMAS, Confederación Mundial de Actividades Subacuáticas
